Tidworth Store Owner Recognised

Tidworth Store Owner Recognised With Award

Andrew Connolly, who owns four SPAR stores in Tidworth and Ludgershall and another in Pewsey, has been recognised in the annual Tidworth Area Community Awards.

Andrew received a Certificate of Recognition from the Lord Lieutenant of Wiltshire, John Bush, for his support in the local community.

In the citation for his award, the work of his stores in supporting local charities was highlighted. One of his stores acts as a drop off point for parcels, and his stores were noted for providing local people with value for money and convenience.

Chris Franklin, Mayor of Tidworth, said: “As well as the support and charity days that Andrew puts on at his stores, there are a number of charities he supports in a less public arena.

“As a councillor, he was the main drive behind the parish becoming a town. He fights hard for the rights of local people and is never afraid to tackle an issue head on in order to help others. Everything he does, directly or indirectly, results in benefiting the local community.”

Andrew and his sister Teresa’s convenience store business was started by their parents Malcolm and Doris 50 years ago. They opened their fourth store last year in Pewsey, and will be the principal sponsor of the town’s historic carnival over the next three years.
