Weymouth SPAR store owners Mike and Barbara Clements have praised customers Nick, Kelly and Dervla Ireland for raising £100 for Help for Heroes.
The Ireland family, regular customers at the Preston Road store, were among 12 teams of three entering the Weird Fish Harbour Oyster Challenge held last month as part of the Dorset Seafood Festival.
Participants had to swim across Weymouth Harbour, climb on to a pontoon, run to down a glass of champagne and eat an oyster in the fastest possible time and swim back again.
Nick, Dervla and Kelly embossed themselves with SPAR logos for the event, and raised £100 towards the Help for Heroes charity. “The Irelands use our store every day, and we are full of admiration for them for taking part in this fundraising event,” said Barbara Clements.
