Torbay store owner Phillip Herring is celebrating after winning the annual Wessex Guild Golf Day staged over the Jack Nicklaus Course at the St. Mellion International Resort in Cornwall.
Phillip, whose family run four SPAR stores in Shiphay and Torquay, won the tournament with 31 points to claim a golf bag, trophies and a Ricoh digital camera.
The event attracted over 100 players, and guests attended the evening gala dinner where they were entertained by Peter McGovern, golf professional at The Belfry. Phillip is pictured (second from right) with members of his Golf Team.
The tournament is staged every year by Appleby Westward. The supplier winner was Barry Cuthbertson of Robert Wiseman Dairies, and the Appleby Westward winner was David Taylor, who is the company’s Health, Fire and Safety Manager. Liz Flide won the ladies prize.
