PET AWARENESS DAY PLANNED IN BRIDPORT

Pet Awareness Day Planned in Bridport

Staff at the SPAR store in Bridport are planning a special treat for man’s best friend in August.

The East Street store is staging a Pet Awareness Day on Wednesday 31st August between 11am and 3pm to raise awareness of dogs and will raise money for the Guide Dogs charity at the same time. The event has been organised by Appleby Westward. “We will be hosting a day of activities to get the whole family involved,” said Store Manager Lorraine Griffin. “We will have guide dog puppy’s there on the day with their handlers, and children can learn more about the training involved.”

Glen Goodall, Trading Manager of Appleby Westward said: “The event is an education process to explain the work of this worthy charity as well as a bit of fun. The store is encouraging people to come along, meet a puppy and find out what it is like to live in a world of visual impairment. We are aiming to raise £5000 over the coming months which is the cost of getting a dog for a blind person.”

Events on the day will include kids face painting to become their favorite pet, a raffle and prizes, and special on the day offers so that visitors can treat their pets.

Appleby Westward will be staging similar events at other SPAR stores throughout the region during the year in order to raise the required £5,000 this year.
