Two Callington women have raised £1,000 for St. Luke’s Hospice in Plymouth following a 26 mile midnight walk from Home Park, Plymouth.
Trish Douglas and Tracy Williams, who work for the Gillett family at their Callington SPAR store, undertook the marathon walk in memory of former colleague Lorna Sharp, who lost a battle with cancer on New Year’s Day this year.
The two women completed the walk in just over eight hours and hope to take part again next year to raise more money to support the hospice. “We were overwhelmed by the support we received from customers and colleagues in the store with their generous sponsorship,” said Trish.
Gilletts Callington Ltd opened their first SPAR store in Callington in 1984 and now operate 57 SPAR stores throughout the south west.
